Kids from UHCC - Meet Nyame Kye

When we see this adorable picture we can't imagine what this little guy when through. He is an example of the power that people can have when they come together and care!

When 3 years old Nyame Kye first arrived at United Hearts, he couldn't speak and weighed less than 13 pounds (4 kilos). His mother died giving birth to her second child. The baby survived and family members quickly took the one week old. But they did not want Nyame Kye because he looked so sick.

The day Nyame Kye got to United Hearts he was taken to the hospital and to a nutrition specialist. The doctors thought he was a year old, but he was 3! He was wearing pants for a 3 to 6 month old and they wouldn't stay around his waist. He went through exams that showed he had no malaria and no stomach problems. Nyame Kye had anemia from severe malnourishment. He was not being fed for months and doctors said he would not live much longer if United Hearts hadn't taken him in. The doctors gave him free and unlimited supply of plumpy nut, the emergency therapeutic food that they give to children in countries struggling with famine.

Rapidly Nyame Kye started gaining weight and today he is a happy and healthy boy! At United Hearts he has more than twenty brothers and sisters, moms and dads, aunties and uncles that constantly are giving him food and lots of love, which he deserves!

I can't wait to meet this little hero in person and I want to give him the biggest hug and thousands of kisses! On that day I'll remember every person that has given me love and support during my life, and I will pass that to the children of United Hearts.

Nyame Kye is a Twi name, meaning a Gift from God!

For a community that save the life of children like Nyame Kye, let's help them to make their dream come true and fund a School Bus. For all the children from Bawjiase who deserve to have access to education!
