It's About Party Time

A dream.
A rural community in Ghana.
An orphanage called United Hearts.
They build a school.
They want to bring every child from the community to the classroom.
They need a School Bus.
We come together and dance our booty off on a fundraising party to make that dream comes true.

This is the best that could eve happen! I am so excited to announce the United Hearts Fundraiser Party - Boston edition! Thank you Alex and MMMMAVEN.

And thank you Sepalcure!

Sepalcure’s combination of love for bass and 90s house acapellas is the culmination of a cathartic two week collaboration between Travis Stewart (Machinedrum) and Praveen Sharma (Braille). Their mix of tribal dub, house and two step beats works equally well for both late nights in the club and rainy, introspective nights at home. Detroit techno chords cut through wooden beats, neon synths and dubbed out atmospherics.

And... Attention San Francisco! It is official: The United Hearts Fundraiser Party - The School Bus Project #2 on September 11 at The Public Works

LINE-UP:

ADDISON GROOVE [Bristol, UK - 50Weapons / Swamp81]

GRENIER [LA - Frite Nite / Nevermind]

JASON KENDIG [SF - Honey Soundsystem]

WOLFBITCH [SF]

DEVIN LANDAU [SF - Surefire]

COOL GREG [SF - Surefire]

100% of door/donation will go towards purchasing the United Hearts School Bus. The bus will be responsible for collecting more than 100 children daily and making sure they access schooling in a safe and reliable manner!!!

About Acceptance

Today I will live in acceptance rather than expectation!

Last Thursday (August 19th) was the World Humanitarian Day. Wikipedia describes humanitarianism as an ethic of kindness, benevolence, and sympathy extended universally and impartially to all human beings. Humanitarianism can also be described as the acceptance of every human being for plainly just being another human, ignoring and abolishing biased social views, prejudice, and racism in the process.

I've been learning so much since I started this journey, specially when it comes to acceptance. Understanding that people have different points of view is an important part of this job and I believe that this is all preparing me for what it is to come, in Ghana.

Fundraising is hard and sometimes frustrating. I am so immensely grateful for all the help from people that I got so far. But, it really hits you hard when you don't hear from people that you thought would be 100% behind you. On a journey like this all kinds of support are needed, it is not just about money or about how much you give. It is about showing your support through words, it is about sharing a video or a post, it is about using a skill you have towards a good cause. Like the people that helped me to build this blog, or the people that helped me at the fundraiser party. It is about taking a regular day of your life and just naming it differently.

But I have to accept that some people are simply not where I am at. Everyone has its own problems and is going through something in their lives that I know nothing about. So when I contact someone and don't hear an answer it is important to not take it personally. Fundraising requires a fine balance between patience and persistence. That is no recipe to find that balance, but is definitely something that I am learning as I go.

Celebrating Humanitarian Day!

Did you know that August 19th is Humanitarian Day? In its most general form, humanitarianism is an ethic of kindness, benevolence, and sympathy extended universally and impartially to all human beings...

To celebrate it, I made this video. A new campaign to make a dream come true for this community in Ghana! I hope you watch it and share it with your friends!

O jornal destaca a importância do projeto do Ônibus Escolar. Mais de 100 crianças serão beneficiadas com acesso a educação e assim poder garantir um futuro melhor para a sua comunidade em Bawjiase, Gana.

Quero agradecer ao Elvis do jornal por fazer a matéria. Está maravilhosa!
